Season Titles - Musical Horizons

Concert 4 – Copland – An American Legend

Saturday, April 13 in Monterey at 7 pm & Sunday, April 14 in Santa Cruz at 5 pm

Our season finale, Copland – An American Legend, is a celebration of an American icon. We begin with an all-time favorite, Appalachian Spring, performed in the original version for 13 instruments. We then join forces with Cantiamo! and soloists to present the suite from his opera, The Tender Land. The Tender Land is a timeless tale of America itself coming of age, intertwined with the story of a young girl’s discovery of the America that lies beyond her family farm. Soloists Lori Schulman and Diane Syrcle will bring the story to life. This beautiful tale is not to be missed.

Join us for Notes from the Conductor one hour before each concert.

Music Always Matters!

Although we are now a “well established” chamber orchestra, our continuing passion is to discover the new: to present compositions that widen, and sometime challenge both ourselves and you, our audience. We continue our dedication to the thrill of discovery.
